🔴Directly National Assembly: Levy of parliamentary immunity of Farba Ngom
Follow the plenary session of the National Assembly live. A day that promises to be crucial for the opposition deputy. The ad hoc commission, after examination of the dossier, recommended the lifting of his parliamentary immunity. Farba Ngom is accused of money laundering on the basis of a report by the National Financial Intelligence Unit (CENTIF). According to Alioune Souaré, parliamentary affairs specialist, interviewed by our confrères de Pressafrik, the debates will be strictly supervised, and only four interveners will be allowed to speak. After its reading, the debate shall be open, but only the President of the ad hoc Commission, the rapporteur, the representative of the Government, the Member concerned or his representative, and a Member having an opposite opinion may speak. He said that after the debates, a vote will be organized to determine whether parliamentary immunity will be lifted or not. “If the majority of the votes, or at least 83 deputies, is in favour of the withdrawal, the withdrawal shall be acted upon immediately. In the opposite case, the application will be rejected”, added Mr Souaré.
