1,073 billion CFA francs reimbursed: Fadilou Keïta has been appointed to the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations
The sequence of events seems to confirm the position of Fadilou Keïta. In fact, the Director General of the Caisse des dépôts et consignations (CDC) had affirmed during a television broadcast that certain persons arrested for embezzlement of public funds preferred to reimburse discreetly to avoid legal proceedings. He had specified that similar cases had been observed within the institution he heads, without, however, naming names. These declarations had aroused doubts in some quarters, but the actual reimbursement of CFAF 1,073 billion now seems to corroborate his claims. The Directorate-General of the SECAM had indicated this deficit as being the damage suffered, the subject of a complaint lodged with the financial prosecutor. However, according to the daily newspaper Libération in its edition of this Thursday, “in the course of the investigation, the former majority shareholder proceeded to the full repayment of this sum”. L’identité de cet ancien actionnaire majoritaire n’a pas été divulguée, mais il est également visé par une autre plainte de la SECAM pour des retraits suspects totalling 1,051 billion de francs CFA. He is also the subject of a complaint by the SECAM for suspicious withdrawals totalling 1,051 billion CFA francs. Despite the settlement of the 1,073 billion, the interested party had undertaken in writing to return the amounts withdrawn, which, according to Libération, has not yet been done to date, thus prompting SECAM to lodge an additional complaint.
