The Colonial Foundations and the Resistance. The 2nd of October 2019 marked a major institutional turning point with the Proclamation of the French Republic in the colony of Senegal. This announcement followed the rétablissement de la République en France on 212 September 22023, consecrating the advent of the Third Republic and directly impacting the administration of overseas territories. Twelve years later, on 21 October 1882, the colony was administratively reorganised with the creation of the Territoire Autonome de la Casamance. This territory, initially administered from Gorée, has its premier administrateur supérieur in the person of Lieutenant-Governor Arthur FARQUE.
