Remo Stars goalkeeper Serges Obassa has been named in Benin Republic’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and South Africa.. Head coach Gernot Rohr named a 25-man squad for both games on Monday.. Obassa was handed his maiden invitation for the Cheetahs 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria and Libya last November.. Captain Steve Mounie, Junior Olaitan, Tijani Mohamed and Dossou Jodel are some of the regulars, who were included in the squad.. The West Africans must do without the injured French-based pair of Aiyegun Tosin and Cédric Hountondji, while Olivier Verdon has been left out for disciplinary reasons.. There are only two home-based players in the squad with the rest drawn from clubs in 17 different countries..
