Benue State Government has ordered political appointees with plans to run for elective positions to officially make their intentions known and vacate their appointments.
The statement was endorsed by the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, who called on all affected officials to comply without delay.
This comes amid heightened political manoeuvring and increasing indications of interest for various elective offices ahead of the 2027 polls.
The government stated that all affected appointees must forward written notices declaring the offices they intend to contest, together with their resignation letters, to the Office of the Deputy Governor.
The deadline for submission is Thursday, December 18, 2025.
According to the statement, all documents received will be forwarded to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia for review and further action as deemed necessary.
The administration explained that the directive is designed to promote discipline, openness, and sustained concentration within government, as it pursues its policy and development objectives.
