Amina Suzuki, an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, has said that with the defection of the Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, to the ruling party, Northwest Nigeria is firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
Suzuki, who is the chairperson of the APC Franchise Chapter, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
DAILY POST reports that Governor Lawal officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for APC on Monday.
His defection further increased the number of governors in APC, while the PDP shrank to only two: Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Reacting, Suzuki said Lawal’s defection to APC reflects the rising confidence of political leaders and citizens across the country in the reform-driven leadership of President Tinubu.
“The Northwest remains one of the most influential voting blocs in Nigeria’s democratic process. With this significant political realignment in Zamfara, it is increasingly evident that President Tinubu’s leadership and policies are gaining widespread acceptance across the region,” the statement read.
