The Obidient Movement, which backs Peter Obi, reports a significant rise in support from Northern Nigeria for their candidate. This optimism was highlighted when the District Head of Pantami in Gombe State recently honored Obi with the traditional title of Sarkin Maskan Pantami, translating to “Chief of Shelter and Peace of Pantami.” The title was officially awarded through a letter signed by Mai Martaba Alhaji Yakubu Abdullahi, the District Head of Pantami. This announcement was shared by Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the Global Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, during a Tuesday event in Abuja. In the letter, the monarch praised the 2023 Labour Party LP presidential candidate for his steadfast commitment to humanitarian efforts and community development. “This appointment acknowledges your commitment and determination towards advancing our community,” the letter stated in part. The Obidients referred to the title as “a cultural endorsement of service and leadership.” Obi’s growing influence in the North is attributed to his active engagement in humanitarian efforts throughout multiple states.
