321 contractors bid for Adamawa SUBEB projects

A total of 321 companies have submitted bids to compete for various categories of supplies and construction works as the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, ADSUBEB, opens a technical bidding process for the 2022, 2023, and 2024 Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, matching grant projects.. Declaring the session open, the Executive Chairman of ADSUBEB, Dr Murtala Babayi, outlined the scope of the projects to include the construction of blocks of classrooms, renovation of existing structures, supply of school furniture, drilling of solar-powered boreholes, and construction of perimeter fences.. Babayi, who appreciated Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his timely release of counterpart funds that make UBEC project implementation possible across the state, said the practice has been instrumental in executing development projects in schools throughout Adamawa.. In her remarks, the Director of Procurement at ADSUBEB, Mrs Rahila Stephen, said the bidding exercise complied with Section 16 of the Public Procurement Act (2007), which mandates that only contractors with the requisite capacity, resources, and experience are eligible to participate in government procurement processes.. She explained that the pre-qualification exercise would produce a shortlist of qualified bidders to proceed to the invitation-to-tender stage.. The event was witnessed by representatives of UBEC, ICPC, civil society organisations, school-based management committees, procurement officers, contractors, and the media.
