The President of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, took part in the 34th Summit of the African Mechanism for Peer Evaluation (MAEP), a pan-African framework dedicated to the promotion of good governance. This strategic meeting, which brought together the Heads of State and Government of the Member States, was an opportunity for Senegal to present its self-evaluation report, highlighting the progress achieved and the challenges to be addressed in the field of political, economic and social governance. The MAEP, which is part of the agenda of the African Union, aims to encourage States to adopt transparent and effective governance practices through a process of mutual evaluation. The active participation of President Faye reflects Senegal’s commitment to strengthening the principles of democracy, sustainable development and social inclusion. During the presentation of the national report, several points were underlined, in particular: Democratic stability and the rule of law: Senegal remains a model in West Africa, with a peaceful democratic transition and strong institutions. Economic reforms: The country continues to implement policies promoting inclusive growth and economic diversification, notably in the agriculture, infrastructure and digital sectors. While the progress is remarkable, the report also highlights some challenges to be met. The fight against corruption: A strengthening of the mechanisms of transparency and accountability is necessary. Inclusion and social justice: The reduction of regional and social disparities remains a major issue. Business environment: Additional reforms are recommended to improve the attractiveness of Senegal for investors. A pan-African vision carried by Diomaye Faye.
