4th edition of the Energy-Climate Week 2025: Africa is urgently calling for global solidarity and climate justice

Organized by Enda Énergie, the work of the 4th edition of the Énergie-Climat Week began on Monday and ended on Friday. In the face of worsening climate change and its devastating consequences, Africa, although a weak emitter of greenhouse gases, is in the front line of the impacts. Civil society, parliamentarians and non-governmental organisations have united their voices for concerted action in the face of the climate emergency on the continent, demanding developed countries to pay their ecological debt. Sokhna Dié Ka, representative of the organisation Natural Justice, underlined the need for close collaboration between all the parties concerned to make progress in the fight against climate change. It stressed that the reinvention of territories, which is essential for adaptation, cannot be achieved without the active involvement of local communities. “The heart of the fight is to reinvent our territories, but this cannot be done without the communities. L’État seul ne peut pas y arriver”, she declared, underlining the need for a collective and inclusive mobilization.
