Chelsea striker Joao Felix has expressed a desire to return to his childhood club Benfica. The 25-year-old Portuguese player made a permanent move to Chelsea last summer after a loan period, but he has faced challenges in meeting expectations at Stamford Bridge. After spending the latter half of the 2024/25 season on loan at AC Milan, Felix has returned to Chelsea but was omitted from the squad for the current FIFA Club World Cup taking place in the United States. In a conversation with TribalFootball, Felix expressed his desire to go back to Benfica, saying, “Everyone knows that Benfica is my favorite club.” This is where I live. Someday I will come back… “I can’t tell if it will be soon or take a few years, but if it happens now, I would be extremely happy.” I have two choices: I can either remain in England or go back to Benfica. His salary expectations and the possible transfer cost may pose an obstacle, and he will probably need to accept a lower salary.
