Turkish Teams Compete for Super Eagles Striker

Three clubs from the Turkish Super Lig, Samsunspor, Besiktas, and another Samsunspor, are showing interest in Umar Sadiq. Spanish team Real Sociedad is looking to find a buyer for the Nigerian international this summer. Sadiq is not part of the White and Blues’ plans for the 2025/26 season and is eager to leave after a difficult time at the club. According to Estadio Deportivo, Sergio Francisco’s team is hoping to sell the player for about €10 million. Sadiq was on loan at Valencia, another Spanish club, for the latter part of last season. The 28-year-old had a positive impact at Mestella, assisting the team in avoiding relegation. The former Rangers player netted five goals in 16 league matches. However, Valencia chose not to make the transfer permanent. Difficult Time at Sociedad. Sadiq signed with Real Sociedad on September 1, 2022, after an impressive period at Almeria, where he scored 40 goals in 79 league games over two years. He had a strong start at Real Sociedad, scoring in his debut—a 1-1 home draw against Atletico Madrid. Unfortunately, he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his next match against Getafe, leading to surgery that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Since then, Sadiq has scored four goals in 35 league appearances for the club. By Adeboye Amosu
