Enrique mentioned that he was “only trying to separate the players” as emotions ran high. However, TV footage showed him making contact with Chelsea’s new player, Joao Pedro, by raising his hand towards his neck. Enrique acknowledged, “There was pushing and shoving, a lot of tension and pressure,” and remarked that the situation “should have been avoided,” emphasizing that his main goal was to diffuse the situation.
