Liverpool has shown interest in acquiring Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and is willing to invest £120 million in him. The prolific Swedish international is considered a primary target for Arne Slot’s current Premier League champions as they look to secure a high-caliber center forward before the transfer window closes on September 1. They have already spent £116 million on Florian Wirtz and have also brought in Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Reports indicate that Isak was among three strikers under consideration for a transfer to Merseyside, alongside Eintracht Frankfurt’s sought-after Hugo Ekitike and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, whom Galatasaray attempted to secure after a successful loan last season. As per The Athletic, Liverpool has formally reached out to Newcastle regarding a transfer for Isak, proposing a deal estimated at £120m, which would establish a new British transfer record. Isak is currently tied to St. James’ Park until the summer of 2028 and has emerged as one of the top strikers globally since joining Tyneside from Real Sociedad for a club-record fee of £62m in 2022, netting 62 goals in 109 appearances across all competitions, including 27 goals in 42 matches last season.
