Floods in Tambacounda: The deputy Djimo Souaré expresses his solidarity and calls for unity of action

In view of the heavy rains which have fallen in recent days in the region of Tambacounda, in the south of the country, causing major flooding in several quarters, the Vice-President of the parliamentary group Takku Wallu Sénégal, the Honourable Member of Parliament Djimo Souaré, has expressed his sympathy to the affected populations, through a communiqué on Tuesday. “Families have lost everything, homes are flooded and daily life is profoundly disrupted”, he declared. As the son of this land and the representative of its people in the National Assembly, Djimo Souaré said to measure the magnitude of the drama and salute the courage of the inhabitants and local actors who, often with limited means, mobilize to respond to the emergency. In view of this situation, the honourable Member considers that “no silence or division can be acceptable”. It therefore called for a collective and coordinated mobilisation of all levels of responsibility: local authorities, administrative authorities, State services, technical partners and community actors. The electorate called for this solidarity to be reflected not only in the immediate emergency, but also in a lasting response, in order to provide structural solutions to the recurrent problems of flooding affecting this region.
