On the night of Monday 14 July 2025, at around 23 hours, the police station of Yamatogn, in Ziguinchor, carried out the arrest of an individual of foreign nationality during a road check on the axis leading to Guinea-Bissau. This operation is part of the security efforts led by the forces of order in the region. During a routine check, a seven-seater passenger transport vehicle from Guinea-Bissau was intercepted. During the search, the agents discovered a black sachet hidden in the pockets of a passenger. This sachet contained fifty (50) boulettes d’haschich, most likely intended for resale. On questioning on the spot, the suspect admitted to having acquired the merchandise in Guinea-Bissau at a price of FCFA 1000 per unit, with the intention of reselling the boulette in Gambia at FCFA 10000 in the hope of making a substantial profit. Placed in custody, the individual is subject to a thorough investigation to establish the exact circumstances of this trafficking. This arrest highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Senegalese authorities to combat drug trafficking in the region, particularly on cross-border routes.
