On Saturday night, armed bandits raided Kwanar Na Uwa in Tofa District, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting at least 25 females, which included married women and young girls. The attackers approached the community under the cover of darkness, specifically targeting homes to take only female victims, highlighting a serious instance of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with significant risk of sexual assault. Security analyst Bakatsine reported on Sunday via X: “Last night, bandits invaded Kwanar Na Uwa in Tofa District, Bungudu LGA, Zamfara.” Twenty-five females were kidnapped, including both married women and young girls. The message stated that this is a serious instance of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with a significant potential for sexual abuse.
