L’artiste Mbathio Ndiaye, known for his singular parcours d’ancienne danseuse devenue chanteuse, has decided to pass to the judicial offensive. On Wednesday, she became a civil party in the case against El Hadj Babacar Dioum, better known by the pseudonym Kocc Barma, controversial administrator of pages regularly disseminating intimate and defamatory content. It was through his lawyer, Me Aboubacry Barro, that Mbathio Ndiaye lodged a complaint with constitution de partie civile before the procureur de la République and the doyen des juges d’instruction of the tribunal de grande instance hors classe de Dakar. In her complaint, the artist accuses Kocc Barma of having disseminated on her platforms videos of a sexual nature concerning her, without her consent. But the accusations do not stop there. Mbathio Ndiaye also denounces a blackmail, affirming that the person in question would have demanded either sexual favours, or money, in exchange for the non-publication of compromising content. “Despite the threats, she has never given in”, underlines his lawyer, specifying that his client has, on the contrary, challenged Kocc Barma to put his threats to execution, refusing to comply with a logic of intimidation. Through his action, Mbathio Ndiaye hopes not only to obtain justice, but also to send a strong signal to the authors of illicit content who exploit the flaws of the digital to harm the reputation of others. The dossier is now in the hands of justice.
