Demba Hamady Sada, an emblematic figure of the livestock industry in Senegal, continues to be the voice of the country’s shepherds and herders. For him, livestock farming remains a sure path to success and dignity, provided that significant investments are made. “We must invest in livestock, educate young people, create infrastructure, and enhance our professions. “Africa will develop only through its lands, its cultures and its animals”, he said, convinced that the sector could make a lasting contribution to the continent’s economic and social development. Through his journey and his commitment, Demba Hamady Sada proves that with the will and an adequate framework, livestock can offer employment and emancipatory opportunities for the younger generations. It therefore invites the authorities, the public authorities and private actors to give priority to this strategic sector, which guarantees food sovereignty and the preservation of ancestral know-how. An exceptional event took place on 22 July 2025 in the Matam region, more precisely in the village of Mbanane, less than five kilometres from Ourossogui. Demba Hamady Sada, a young man in his twenties, had become in a few years an emblematic figure of Pulaagu.. Five years earlier, barely married, Demba had left his native village, his home and his mother, animated by a single dream: to offer a better future to his family. Today, Demba Hamady Sada is not only a shepherd who returns home: he has become a source of inspiration, a symbol of courage, an ambassador of the dignity of the Pulaagu. His story reminds everyone that no adversity can break those who believe in the nobility of work.
