Liverpool are preparing a club-record bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak as they speed up plans to replace outgoing winger Luis Diaz, who is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich for £65 million.

The Reds are keen to reinvest the funds from Diaz’s imminent departure, and Isak has emerged as their top attacking target.

The 25-year-old Sweden international has reportedly rejected interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, making it clear that his priority is a Premier League stay—specifically a switch to Anfield.

Transfer insiders indicate that Liverpool are finalising a “record proposal” for Isak.

However, they will only proceed once they receive a green light from Newcastle, with reports suggesting the striker has already informed the club of his intention to leave this summer.

Liverpool have already spent close to £300 million this window under new manager Arne Slot, including deals for Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz.

But with both Diaz and Darwin Nunez expected to exit, reinforcing the frontline has become urgent.

Newcastle, for their part, are bracing for a significant offer. While reluctant to sell, they may be forced to consider cashing in due to Financial Fair Play considerations and the scale of Liverpool’s expected bid.
