The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted hazy weather for the country from Wednesday to Friday. In a weather outlook released in Abuja on Tuesday, NiMet indicated that moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is expected during this time. The North Central region will also experience similar moderate dust haze. The inland cities in the South are predicted to have cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere through the period, while coastal cities may see early morning mist or fog. Later in the day, cloud patches in hazy conditions are also anticipated in coastal areas. Additionally, the northern region may experience slight dust haze with improved visibility overall. On Friday, moderate dust haze is expected in the northern region, with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km. Localized visibility of less than 1km could occur in parts of Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Kaduna states. The North Central region is expected to have slight dust haze and good visibility, as well as cloud patches in a hazy environment over the inland cities in the South. NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions due to airborne dust particles, especially for those with respiratory issues such as asthma. The agency also recommended that airline operators obtain weather reports specific to airports from NiMet for effective flight planning.
