In 2024, the police in Bauchi reported 73 incidents of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).  

The Bauchi State Police Command announced that it has recorded 73 suspected cases of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in 2024. Police Commissioner Auwal Mohammed shared this information during a press conference at the command’s headquarters, where he discussed the command’s activities for the year. He credited the effectiveness of the investigations to important information supplied by the public, whom he referred to as essential allies in the battle against crime. “The Command has adopted crime prevention strategies that combine traditional techniques with scientific methods, including intelligence-led policing,” he stated. He stated that these initiatives have been bolstered by partnerships with other security agencies and NGOs to effectively combat crime in the state. The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s dedication to building public trust and ensuring a safer, more secure Bauchi State.
