In a solemn and structuring speech, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, spoke this Friday on the economic recovery plan presented by his Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko. An address to the nation marked by the gravity of the current situation, but also by the hope of a profound transformation of the Senegalese economic model. A lucid reconnaissance of the crisis. In his speech, President Diomaye described a state of affairs without complacency: an economy under pressure, a heavy external debt, growing social inequalities, alarming youth unemployment and a heavy dependence on imports. “We have inherited a difficult situation, but we have chosen not to run away from our responsibilities”, he said. A plan considered audacious, but feasible. In his unreserved support for the plan of his Prime Minister, Diomaye Faye called Sonko’s roadmap “audacious, realistic and rooted in national priorities”.
