​Angola: 22 killed during protests against fuel price hike 

  The flambée of fuel prices has triggered deadly protests in Angola. In three days, 22 people are dead, des magasins ont été pillagés et le pays est sous tension.. Angola, Africa’s second oil producer, is in the throes of a serious social crisis. Since Monday, riots and looting have followed the country after the brutal increase in fuel prices, passed from 300 to 400 kwanzas per litre (0.28 to 0.38 euro). Results: 22 dead, including a policeman, and nearly 200 wounded according to an official balance presented Wednesday by the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Homem. The anger, initially expressed by civil society organizations, was amplified by a three-day strike decreed by the National Association of Taxi Drivers (ANATA). On Monday and Tuesday, the situation deteriorated, particularly in Luanda, Huambo and Benguela. In Luanda, the capital, the population has remained largely at home, the shops have closed, the banks have closed.
