Carabao Cup: Walcott criticizes Arsenal’s poor performance and lack of confidence following their loss to Newcastle.

Former Arsenal striker Theo Walcott criticized the Gunners after their 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night. Goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon secured the victory for Newcastle over the North London club. Walcott described Arsenal’s performance as “very lackluster” and noted that Mikel Arteta’s team appeared to lack confidence during the match. He shared his thoughts during Sky Sports’ broadcast of the game. “What concerns me about Arsenal is that they seem more thrilled about set pieces all the time instead of the fluid football they are famous for.” He said, “We’re avoiding it… The second half was quite underwhelming… We’re moving away from fluid football and generating opportunities… I believe it’s a lack of confidence.” I believe there were many anxious feelings in the stadium. In February, Arsenal will visit Newcastle for the second match.
