Nigeria’s Rosemary Nwankwo is the new African School Games champion, winning the gold medal in the girls’ 100m in Annaba, Algeria on Sunday.. Nwankwo led a Nigerian 1-2 in the final, winning the title in a time of 11.75s beating her teammate and friend, Miracle Ezechukwu who placed second with a time of 11.83s.. Ndoulou Boukama from Congo Brazzaville, got the Bronze medal with a time of 12.19s.. Nigeria’s 3×3 basketball team secured the country’s first medal at the games after narrowly losing 12 – 11 to Rwanda in the final on Thursday.. On Saturday, Ukandu Judith secured Nigeria’s first medal in athletics at the games with a throw of 13.89m to clinch bronze.. Organized by Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and in collaboration with the International School Sport Federation (ISF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the maiden edition of the African School Games kicked off on July 26 and will end on August 5.. Three Thousand young athletes from 53 African countries are participating in the games.. Also, the games feature various sports which include athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, canoeing, football, swimming, table tennis, cycling, and taekwondo.
