The Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s ( TMCF ) Teacher Quality and Retention Program ( TQRP ), which is one of the signature programs of the TMCF, celebrates 16 years of transforming classrooms and developing educational leaders ( Black PR Wire ). Through its rigorous Summer Institute, TQRP has offered 892 scholarships since its inception in 2009, forming a network of teachers who have taught more than 45, 000 learners in the past decade alone. Dr. Harry L. Williams, leader & CEO of TMCF, stated that” TQRP is making a change in a niche that will affect our kids for years.” The impact of the program is particularly significant given where these teachers choose to work because” TQRP’s work is vitally important and they have the data to demonstrate it’s effecting change.” Working with students who are 23 % more good than the national average to be eligible for discounted meals, 90 percent of TQRP colleagues teach in Title I institutions. TQRP has made significant command improvements. More than 75 % of colleagues have taken on leadership roles, from office chairs to associate leaders, by their fourth year in the school. A recent survey revealed that 46 % of former fellows have won awards, including 12 % who won teacher of the year honors. The authorities have noticed. Over the course of five years of examination, TQRP colleagues were rated 62 % more competent than their peers in seven essential training areas. TQRP fellows are likely to stay in the profession in today’s environment of teacher shortages, which is perhaps most important. While teacher retention is still a national issue, 91 % of former TQRP fellows still work in education, with 82 % still working in K-12 settings and 66 % actively teaching in classrooms. With Black men making up 33 % of participants and 38 % of fellows teaching STEM subjects, the plan has accomplished its initial objectives, which address pressing gaps in both fields. To further TMCF’s goal of providing opportunities for those who are most in need, almost 40 % of colleagues are first-generation university graduates. Additionally, supporters regularly rate the system remarkably, with a net promoter score of 96, which is higher than the 57 for common nonprofits. The software continues to support TMCF’s goal of developing tomorrow’s academic leaders who are transforming the nation’s highest-need schools.
