The flood rains that fell on the Petite Côte have heavily hit the commune of Nianing, in the département of Mbour. Nearly 100 millimetres of water were recorded in a few hours, causing the collapse of the bridge connecting the quartier de Gandiole to the départementale 705, a vital axis that connects Mbour to Joal-Fadiouth. This rupture has paralysed the circulation and isolated a part of the inhabitants, compelled désormais à de long détours pour rejoindre la route principale. In view of the gravity of the situation, several officials have travelled to the scene, including the sub-prefect of Sindia, the mayor of Malicounda, Maguette Sène, and the director of flood management and prevention, Madické Cissé, inform Sud Quotidien. They have observed the damage and exchanged with the neighbours. On the spot, the mayor had to reassure the population.
