Following the heavy rains recorded on Friday 15 August 2025, during which the Agence nationale de l’aviation civile et de la météorologie (ANACIM) recorded 77 millimetres of precipitation at the Dakar-Yoff station, flooding was observed at Parcelles-Assainies, as well as at Yoff, where part of the Philippe Maguilène Senghor hospital was submerged. Faced with this situation, the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation visited the site to assess the damage and provide support. Cheikh Tidiane Dièye was also required to reassure staff and patients. “When a situation like this occurs in a hospital, it’s disastrous. You have all my support, as well as that of the highest authorities of this country. But we give thanks to God. The images we had seen this morning (Friday, ed.) described a situation more critical than the current one, because the water has now been almost evacuated.
In addition, the European Union has also been involved in a number of initiatives in the field of health and safety at work.
