Group urges Uba Sani to move NYSC orientation camp from Government College Kaduna immediately.

The Old Boys Association of Government College Kaduna (KADOBA) has urged Governor Uba Sani to stop using the school’s facilities as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp, highlighting its negative impact on students’ education. During a press conference celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Class of 2004’s graduation, the association expressed concerns over the school’s deteriorating condition, citing insufficient space, classrooms, and essential resources. They claimed that these shortages are directly caused by parts of the college being turned into camps for NYSC orientation and civil defense training. While speaking at the event held on the school’s grounds in Abakpa, the Chairman of KADOBA (Class of 2004), Engr. AbdurRahman Musa called on the governor to make students’ education a priority by moving the NYSC camp. “The main reason for converting our school into an NYSC and civil defense training center was the insecurity in the state, particularly the risk of kidnappings in less populated regions,” Engr. said. – Mõistan. “Nevertheless, due to the enhanced security conditions during Governor Sani’s tenure, we think it is now appropriate to bring the corps members back to their permanent orientation camp on the Kaduna-Abuja road.” Musa praised Governor Sani for his efforts to improve security since taking office and urged him to stay dedicated to education. He is recognized as a leader who listens and is dedicated to the education of our children. It is disappointing to observe students lacking dormitories and educational resources because those spaces are being utilized for different purposes.
