On Friday, Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, expressed his readiness to run alongside Peter Obi in the 2027 elections. He mentioned that he would contemplate this possibility if there are improvements in Nigeria’s electoral system. During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he remarked, “If Nigeria is still intact and there is a reliable electoral system, my dedication to Nigeria is unwavering, remember that. I will align myself with groups and individuals who share similar views.” Regarding the chance of still collaborating with Peter Obi, he stated: “Definitely. If you had listened to me two months ago, there are two people I would agree to work with. The first person hasn’t made a statement, so I won’t speak for him, but the second is Peter Obi, and it will always be Peter Obi, unless he chooses otherwise.” When questioned about the possibility of running alongside Rotimi Amaechi, he responded, “The primary candidate is not Rotimi Amaechi.” Amaechi is a nice person. So, what makes you believe that I need to be a deputy? “Stop staring at me as if you’re an officer.”
