The Taxawu Sénégal platform officially announced, on 24 August 2025, the nomination of Ngoné Mbengue as its candidate for the post of Mayor of the City of Dakar. This decision is the result of an internal process conducted “in a climate of openness, responsibility and serenity”, according to the communiqué published by the coalition. In accordance with its tradition of consultation and dialogue, Taxawu Sénégal explains that it has conducted an inclusive selection process for several days. “We would like to commend the maturity, the sense of collective interest and the high-mindedness of all the candidates for the nomination”, underlines the platform, which stresses that all of them have “the profile, experience and skills necessary to successfully and dedicately lead our city’s destiny”. At the end of these discussions, the choice was made, in a consensual manner, on Ngoné Mbengue, now the official candidate of Taxawu Senegal. The coalition calls on its councillors as well as those of the opposition to rally to this candidacy to guarantee continuity in municipal management. “In a spirit of unity and continuity, we will continue together the work already undertaken, for the exclusive interest of Dakar and the Dakarois”, the communiqué said.
