A police operation led by the brigade de gendarmerie de Kafountine, under the command of Adjutant Ngom, led to the arrest of 34 candidates for irregular immigration in the night of Tuesday 27 August 2025, at around 2 o’clock in the morning. According to sources close to the investigation, 25 of the persons arrested are of Senegalese nationality, while the others are originally from The Gambia. Among the migrants interviewed were four women, two of whom were accompanied by their children. At the time of writing, all candidates for clandestine emigration are being held in custody in the premises of the Kafountine gendarmerie brigade, pending the continuation of the procedure.
