The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in 20 out of 23 local government areas during the local elections held on Saturday in Rivers State. The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) announced these results in Port Harcourt on Sunday. The APC candidates for both chairmanship and councillorship positions are supporters of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike. Some of the local governments won by the APC include Ahoada East with 84,125 votes, Akuku Toru with 63,593 votes, Andoni with 513,181 votes, Asari Toru with 56,383 votes, Bonny with 13,543 votes, Degema with 61,536 votes, and Etche with 100,649 votes. Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won in Obio Akpor and Onelga LGAs, receiving 328,888 and 51,051 votes, respectively.
