Residents of Montreal’s West Island who are struggling with the current closure of a neighborhood wellness office were informed this week that they can then visit Brunswick Medical Centre for treatment. The closing of the Statcare office on December 31, 2024, which capped a month of doubt during the holiday season, leaving patients who had relied on it for medical care without choice. Global News has confirmed that Brunswick Medical Centre may take stranded patients for short- and long-term attention. The Statcare office location is only three km away, and the center is only three kilometres away. To provide the more patients, there will be twelve additional doctors who will work the walk-in doctor. Statcare, which was located next to the Lakeshore General Hospital, handled small health crises and provided home remedies, obstetrics and other health services. It served 18, 000 people and operated seven days a week. The shutdown occurred as ELNA Medical Group, which has control over 49 hospitals in Quebec, including the Statcare page, entered bank security. At the end of next year, Quebec Superior Care approved a strategy to seek attention in a possible selling and granted the company’s ask. People concerned about the future of ELNA, which claims to be the largest network of medical facilities and diagnostic facilities in Canada, were prompted by the creditor protection.
