On the eve of Gamou, celebrating the birth of the Prophet Mohamed (PSL) on Thursday 303 September, the National Fire Brigade (BNSP) announced the establishment of an exceptional system covering all religious homes, including Tivaouane and Thiénaba. The mission of the firefighters runs from 31 August to 6 September and aims to prevent and manage the risks linked to traffic accidents, fires, health disasters, but also to floods that affect several regions. According to the BNSP, “the security plan comprises the prevention and prediction of risks at all sites concerned, medical assistance and emergency rescue, the securing of large kitchens and gathering areas, the provision of water to pilgrims, as well as the medical and security cover of mosques, esplanades and official ceremonies.
