Israeli President Isaac Herzog commended U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his resilience and determination in managing governmental matters. “I’m not sure how you manage to find time to rest, but we are extremely privileged to have you here in Israel,” Herzog stated during a gathering in Jerusalem on Monday. He referred to Rubio’s combined responsibilities as Secretary of State and National Security Advisor as an “amazing job description.” During his visit that marks the fifth anniversary of the Abraham Accords, Herzog praised the United States for its role in promoting peace in the Middle East. The Accords, established between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives from Morocco, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, were facilitated by President Donald Trump during his initial presidency. Herzog highlighted the importance of including more partners in these agreements despite the ongoing challenges in the region. Rubio, in his remarks, expressed gratitude towards the leadership of Israel, Morocco, Bahrain, and the UAE for their commitment to achieving the Accords’ objectives. He concurred that the existing alliances should be enhanced and expanded, noting that several other nations have shown interest in joining. The Secretary underscored that President Trump’s second term is focused on building upon the Abraham Accords to incorporate additional countries. Rubio is currently in Israel to engage in discussions regarding the nation’s security and efforts to combat Hamas, along with securing the release of all remaining hostages in Gaza.
