Le ministère de l’Hydraulique et de l’Assainissement announced, in a communiqué published on Friday 19 September 2025, that the level of the Senegal River reached 5,11 metres this morning at the level of the El Hadj Boubou Sall quay, thus exceeding the alert level fixed at 5 metres since 14 September. In the space of 24 hours, the rise was 2 centimeters. At the same time last year, the water level was 4.92 metres. In view of this situation, the Manantali dam management company opened the reservoir, which had reached a critical level. The authorities appeal to the populations of the riverside to prudence and vigilance.
This is the first time that the European Union has been involved in a regional development programme.
