The Minister of the Interior, Mouhamadou Bamba Cissé, proceeded this Saturday to the launch of his first field operation against the anarchist occupation in the capital. The action started on the site of Colobane, a site belonging to the Société nationale des habitations à loyer modéré (SNHLM), where several precarious installations, occupied in large part by foreigners in a situation of mendicity, are the object of a déguerpissement. The security forces, supported by the teams of the Ministry, are mobilized on the spot in order to carry out this operation. The objective, according to the authorities, is to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the population and to combat public health problems in Dakar. Present on the spot, the Minister of the Interior had to clarify that this approach does not target any community in particular. “This is not a way of stigmatising anyone”, he declared, stressing that the action is part of a desire for urban reorganisation and the preservation of public spaces.
