The former Minister of Energy, Samuel Sarr, has been heard by the Division des enquêtes criminelles (DIC) in the context of a case concerning the acquisition of luxury vehicles. According to the information reported by L’Observateur (L’Obs), the hearing took place at home, an unusual fact which arouses interest. At the heart of the investigation were two high-end cars: a Land Rover Urban D300 Defender 110 HSE and a Mercedes-Benz S500. These vehicles, estimated at 200 million CFA francs, were purchased from the son of the former President of the Republic. Samuel Sarr had to clarify that this transaction had “no connection with any business relationship”. He also declared to have already resold one of the vehicles. The elements of the inquiry concern the methods of operation: bargaining, invoices, grey cards and payment by cheque.
