The Senegalese capital has been the scene of a major operation aimed at strengthening road safety. The National Agency for Road Safety (ANASER), in collaboration with the National Police and the National Gendarmerie of Senegal, deployed this Tuesday an unexpected joint control system, targeting mainly the drivers of two-wheeled vehicles not wearing helmets and those violating the Highway Code. Hundreds of motorcycles were seized in the course of this initiative, which is part of a wider campaign to raise awareness among users of the vital importance of respecting safety standards. The operation was carried out simultaneously at several key points of the city, notably at the EMG roundabout, on the HLM shoulder and at the SIPS roundabout, as indicated in the first reports. According to additional sources, checks were also carried out at the RTS checkpoint, at the Malick Sy checkpoint, and at Ngor et Ouakam. These locations, often frequented by motorcyclists, were chosen to maximize the impact and cover areas at high risk of accidents. This action is not isolated: it follows similar operations launched on Monday, underlining the continuing commitment of the authorities to combat road safety.
