A few months after the kick-off of the African Cup of Nations 2025, a new administrative measure has come to disrupt the plans of African fans. Morocco has announced the introduction of an Electronic Travel Authorization (Aevm) for fans wishing to attend the tournament. Algerian nationals, who were previously exempt from the visa requirement to enter Moroccan territory, will now have to comply with this new requirement. The measure concerns not only Algeria, but also Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Niger, Togo and Tunisia. The national airline Royal Air Maroc confirmed the information in an official note. L’Aevm will be available via the “Yalla” application, set up by the Fédération royale marocaine de football to centralize all services related to the competition. For Algerian supporters, already forced to transit through a third country due to the absence of direct air links, this additional obligation represents a casse-tête. Their team played its matches de poule in Rabat, making an anticipatory administrative increase indispensable. However, the Moroccan authorities insist that this provision does not specifically target Algeria.
