The Kano State Police Command has detained a 30-year-old man named Mutawakilu Ibrahim for allegedly killing his grandparents by stabbing them during a dispute over food. The incident was reported to the Dala Divisional Police Headquarters, as stated by Police Spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. On September 25, 2025, at approximately 9:30 AM, a local resident from Kofar Dawanau Quarters alerted authorities about a quarrel involving Ibrahim and his grandparents, 75-year-old Muhammad Dansokoto and 65-year-old Hadiza Tasidi, regarding a disagreement over food. According to SP Kiyawa, during the conflict, Ibrahim reportedly stabbed both grandparents in multiple areas of their bodies, resulting in serious injuries. The victims were quickly taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano, where they were pronounced dead by medical staff. Their bodies were later examined and released to family members for burial following Islamic traditions. Kiyawa indicated that Ibrahim, who is suspected of being intoxicated, has been arrested, and under the guidance of Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the case has been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for a thorough investigation.
