On Monday, Serigne Saliou Diagne, his younger brother Mouhamed, and their aunt Mme Diagne spent their first night in detention after having been charged with association de malfaiteurs et complicité by the judge d’instruction du Pool judiciaire financier (PJF), in the framework of the investigation concerning Madiambal Diagne. Despite the insistence of their lawyers in favour of a remission en liberté provisoire or a placement sous contrôle judiciaire, the judge d’instruction of the Pool judiciaire financier (PJF) followed the particularly severe requests of the public prosecutor. The case of Serigne Saliou Diagne (administrateur du Groupe Avenir Communication, editor of Le Quotidien) was a source of great surprise, as it was not even covered by the requisitoire introductif du procureur, avance le journal. He emphasizes that his incarceration, perceived as a “judicial hostage-taking” by his entourage, immediately led to a counter-offensive by his lawyers. Cited by Le Quotidien, the latter announce that they will plead the nullity of the procedure, estimating its placement sous mandat de dépôt injustifié et en décalage avec son profil discret et son sérieux professionnel reconnu.
