A 67-year-old gentleman from Ontario has been killed in a car accident at the Fernie Alpine Resort in southeast BC, according to RCMP. Elk Valley RCMP claim they received a report of a possible unexpected death at the ski resort on January 8, 2025. When officers arrived, the gentleman was already being taken to a hospital by B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics, and despite making numerous unsuccessful attempts over the course of several hours to save him, he was later declared dying.

Police claim that the man’s home was present when the decision to end life-support work was made. According to researchers, the guy was discovered buried in snow near the top of the hill where it is thought that his poor presence caused him to snow into a pit beneath one of the buildings on the Polar Peak pull. The trap is described as a rectangular sinkhole filled with loose snow that is about 6 by 10 metres ( 20 by 30 feet ) wide. The RCMP and BC Coroner Service continue to investigate.
