A month of prison for the engineer of the Sonatel who had pirated the system

The Tribunal des flagrants délits de Pikine-Guédiawaye has sentenced Khalifa Ababacar Mbaye, engineer of 39 years, to one month of prison ferme for fraudulent access to the computer system of the Sonatel, public injuries and coups and voluntary injuries. Residing in Wakhinane, the defendant, already known to the services of Sonatel for repeated fraud, had illegally shared Wi-Fi connections with his neighbours for payment. He acknowledged the fraudulent access, but denied the violence, which his neighbours accused him of having committed. La Sonatel, partie civile, has claimed 23,7 million FCFA for the damage suffered. The court finally ordered Mbaye to pay the telephone operator 500 000 FCFA in damages.
