The Tribunal de Pikine-Guédiawaye a tranché dans l’affaire de la vaste escroquerie immobilière dite Omart City, which has affected more than 500 victims who have paid between 5 500 and 6 000 F CFA for fictitious social housing. Libération reports that Abdoulaye Mamadou Guissé, president of Omart City Senegal, was convicted of fraud and sentenced to two years in prison, against three years required by the public prosecutor. He must also reimburse the plaintiffs as civil parties. His “directeur de cabinet”, Pape Boubacar Camara, was sentenced to one year in prison, of which six months were suspended. Khady Faye, accused of having usurped the identity of a supposed relative of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, was released despite the request of the parquet for two years of prison ferme, the same source said. During the hearing, 200 new victims became civil parties, underlining the extent of the damage caused.
