​The murder of Yafaye Mandiang at Samakoung: The fugitive Borry Sonko was arrested in Gambia 

  The marital tragedy that has mourned the region of Sédhiou finally knows its rebondissement. The Gambian police have taken to the brink and handed over the suspect in the murder of Bintou Yafaye Mandiang to the Senegalese authorities, in what the police describe as a coordinated effort to combat transnational crime. Borry Sonko is accused of killing his pregnant wife, Bintou Yafaye Manjang, in Samakoung, Senegal, before fleeing to Gambia. According to the police, he was arrested with the help of GPF officers and the victim’s family, and officially transferred on 19 October. The Senegalese police also made a truck registered in Gambia intercepted during the investigation. The GPF affirms that the operation reflects a growing cooperation between the two countries, citing the recent arrests and transfers of suspects linked to capital offences. The police affirm that the two nations remain determined to ensure that the fugitives are quickly traced and brought to justice
