While a young man narrowly escaped death after a suicide attempt at the Unité 15 des Parcelles Assainies, a tragic drama occurred at the Maison des sœurs “Foyer Rose Virginie”, situated in the Medina. A Togolese citizen, named Ayawa Émilie Akoli, born in 1986 in Lomé, was found dead, hanging with the help of a scarf, in the morning of Tuesday 21 October 2025. According to the information reported by SourceA, the victim had arrived the previous day, Monday 20 October, at the reception centre on the recommendation of an assistant sociale de l’hôpital Dalal Diam de Guédiawaye. She had just come out of hospital treatment and found herself without family or means of subsistence. Touched by your situation, Sister E. Mbaye, the manager of the foyer, had accepted the host graciously. On the evening of his arrival, the religious had taken leave of her around 8 o’clock, after having proposed to him the keys of the center which the victim had refused, affirming that he did not want to leave. The day after tomorrow, Sister E. Mbaye discovered the lifeless body of Ayawa Akoli, hanging in the second room of the dormitory. Alerts, technical and scientific police units have been sent to the scene to make observations.
