The Ministry of Education imposes the use of official school manuals in private establishments

The Ministry of National Education reminds private schools and establishments of the obligation to use exclusively approved official textbooks, in accordance with national pedagogical guidelines. In a circular dated 21 October 2025, the Minister of National Education underlines that private schools, whatever their status, are subject to the same requirements as public schools in terms of the choice and use of textbooks. The document specifies that any other pedagogical resource cannot replace the manuals validated by the ministry. The Inspecteurs d’Académie and the Inspecteurs de l’Éducation et de la Formation are responsible for ensuring that this provision is strictly observed by all the relevant establishments within their jurisdiction. This measure aims to harmonise teaching practices and to ensure that all pupils, whether attending public or private schools, benefit from the same educational references.
